Maxwell Technologies (www.maxwell.com), leader in ultra capacitor technology, develops and manufactures innovative, cost-effective energy storage and power delivery solutions. In March 2007, thanks to the support of SCS, Maxwell Technologies established its first office in China within SCS.
Ditzler Indap AG (www.ditzlerindap.ch) is a manufacturer of special apparatus, pressure vessels, storage tanks and valves in plastics, ferritic and austenitic steels and nickel-base alloys. Ditzler Indap owns plants in France and Switzerland and is an exclusive supplier to Endress & Hauser. It is constructing its manufacturing plant within the premises of Endress & Hauser in Suzhou Industry Park. In December 2006 Ditzler Indap joined SCS to enjoy the favorable rate on SCS offers working with its service partners.
Belimo (www.belimo.ch) is the worldwide leader of actuator and valve technology in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Belimo offers a complete range of products with a reputation for excellent design, quality and value. In April 2007, Belimo joined SCS and set up its first assembly operation in Shanghai Xinzhuang Industry Park, home to SCS. Belimo is using SCS communication & marketing as well as Government relations support services.
METAR Machines (www.metar-machines.com) is the world leader in the development and manufacturing of capacitor winding machines. METAR is reengineering and producing an entry-level capacitor winders range in China for emerging markets. At the end of 2006, METAR joined SCS and gained support for the implementation process of its production unit in Shanghai at Xinzhuang Industry Park, 100 meters away from SCS.
HAUG Kompressoren AG (www.haug.ch) is a world leader in the fabrication of oil-free piston compressors for applications in high voltage power plant switches and high-purity gases compression, among others for pharmaceutical and medical use. In June 2007, HAUG joined SCS in order to establish a sales and marketing center within SCS’ premises and with the purpose of keeping contact with existing customers and further developing sales and accounts.
At the end of January 2007, SCS hosted a delegation of 35 executives of various Swiss companies attending the HTW Chur / AIT Thailand Executive MBA program. The MBA candidates visited onsite two different SCS Members: KUK AG (www.kuk.ch), which produces parts for the mobile telecommunications industry, and Stoll’s fashion & technology marketing and service center (www.stoll.com).
The delegation also attended a presentation delivered by Mr. Nicolas Musy, SCS Managing Director, on China’s development and its future impact on Western economies as well as the strategies Swiss SMEs can utilize. An introduction of OSEC and its activities in China by Mr. Beat Bürgi as well as a presentation of SCS by Mr. Nicolas Musy concluded the HTW Chur EMBA visit to Shanghai.
Following their successful trip, over 35 students from the Rochester-Bern EMBA program spent the afternoon of March 29 at SCS, where they followed a seminar by Nicholas Musy on foreign businesses in China and visited 2 Member Companies of SCS.
Recent analysis published in Behind the China Kaleidoscope: A Guide to China Entry and Operations identified Human Resources Management as a key factor for Swiss subsidiaries’ success in China.
SCS, in collaboration with CH-ina, SECO, and SwissCham, is preparing a follow-up report to Behind the China Kaleidoscope focusing exclusively on this issue. The goal of the Swiss-China HRM Report is to identify how successful Swiss companies deal with their Human Resources Management and overcome the notorious difficulties that the Chinese environment presents. The survey’s findings will be published in a follow-up report in September 2007.

Sate Secretary Jean-Daniel Gerber, Director of the Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and Foreign Trade Directorate of Switzerland, visited SCS on December 8, 2006, accompanied by the Swiss Ambassador to China, Mr. Dante Martinelli, and the Consul General of Switzerland in Shanghai, Mr. William Frei.
