Swiss Centers China expands with new location in Changzhou
- Milestone for the Swiss Centers China: the non-profit organization opened a new location in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, an important industrial hub in the larger Shanghai metropolitan area.
- On 1,200 square meters, the new facility offers independent offices, co-working space, as well as showroom and meeting facilities for Swiss enterprises.
- With 42 Swiss companies, Changzhou hosts one of the highest concentrations of Swiss enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta. The new location extends the Swiss Centers services to this cluster of Swiss companies as well as newcomers who have interest in the Changzhou area.
Shanghai (July 29, 2024) – The Swiss Centers China has opened a new location in the important industrial city of Changzhou in Jiangsu Province, in the greater Shanghai metropolitan area – a milestone for the development of the non-profit organization in the Yangtze River Delta. On 1,200 square meters, the brand-new facility offers independent offices, co-working space, as well as showroom and meeting facilities for Swiss enterprises. “Changzhou hosts one of the biggest clusters of Swiss enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta area. 42 Swiss enterprises are set up in the city and its hi-tech district, and many of them are members or customers of the Swiss Centers”, reports Mr. XIAO Zhen, CEO of the Swiss Centers Group. “With the new facility, we can extend our services, customized solutions and network to these Swiss enterprises. Many of them are SMEs in advanced manufacturing, new materials and med-tech. Additionally, we are here to support newcomers who have interest in Changzhou because of its advantageous location and industrial ecosystem.”
The services of the non-profit Swiss Centers are designed to support the market entry and growth of Swiss companies in China. The new facility, located in walking distance to the Changzhou North Railway Station, will serve as a platform to connect Swiss companies locally with relevant business and institutional partners. Mr. Xiao explains: “We have cooperated with the Changzhou government for years. Swiss companies can benefit from this experience and network.”
The grand opening ceremony of Swiss Center Changzhou was held on July 12, 2024. Mr. Jürg Burri, Ambassador of Switzerland to China, Mr. Sacha Bachmann, Consul General of Switzerland in Shanghai, along with Ms. SHENG Lei, Mayor of Changzhou, Mr. PAN Dongling, Deputy Mayor of Changzhou, city and district leaders, as well as hundreds of representatives from Sino-Swiss institutions and businesses, attended the festive event.
Ambassador Burri congratulated Swiss Center Changzhou on its opening and envisioned a bright future for Sino-Swiss cooperation. “Now we have a Swiss ground in Changzhou”, he spoke passionately, “I wish a lot of success to the new Swiss Center”.
Mr. PAN Dongling, Deputy Mayor of Changzhou, expressed his congratulations and highlighted Changzhou’s strategic importance as a central city in the Yangtze River Delta region. “The Swiss Centers has effectively served as an open platform for Sino-Swiss exchange, supporting us significantly in project introduction, cultural exchange, and event organization. It has brought Changzhou and Switzerland closer, optimizing the channels for dialogue between both sides.”
